Six miles south-east of Chester, between the roads to Whitchurch (A41) and Nantwich (A51) lie the villages of Huxley and Hargrave.

St Peter's HargraveEach village has its own Parish Council but they are united under one Ecclesiastical Parish of Hargrave which has encouraged joint activities and a thriving community spirit.  This is particularly demonstrated by the annual Happy Days event over the last weekend in June with the highlight being the traditional fete on Saturday afternoon at Hargrave Church field.  This also coincides with a Bowling Club match held on the green adjacent to the playing field.

There are two churches - St Peter's, Hargrave and St Andrew's, Huxley and a St Andrew's, HuxleyMethodist Chapel in Huxley.  There are also two dwelling houses which used to be Methodist chapels. The Wesleyan Methodist chapel in Hargrave was closed in 1980 and the New Connection Methodist chapel in Huxley was closed in 1906.

Hargrave School was closed in 1954 and is now used as the village hall.  The Huxley C of E Primary School continues to serve the two villages and others from further a field who want to partake of the excellent quality of teaching.

Methodist Chapel, HuxleyThere is an active Local History Group, who have written a History of Hargrave & Huxley published in book form some years ago.  We have a Parish News published 10 times a year and delivered free of charge to all houses in the two villages. This is published and circulated by the Parish Church and contains lots of information relevant to residents, not only Church news.
